Selma

In the early 1960s, Selma, Alabama was projected into the spotlight of the nation's Civil Rights struggle.

The Edmund Pettus Bridge, shown in this photo, was the scene of one of the many confrontations between southern authorities and Civil Rights advocates. This location is remembered for "Bloody Sunday."
