Anchorage - Cook Inlet June 23, 2001 |
![]() |
Since leaving the
airport at midnight, we had been on the road for 13 hours, covered 460
miles - and
were 5 miles south of our original starting point - but that was the plan.
We were back in Anchorage on Alaska Highway 1. |
|
We were overlooking the Cook Inlet which connects Anchorage to the Pacific
Ocean, about 150 miles to the southwest. This was the beginning of
one of the most beautiful rides in the world. Cook Inlet is ringed
by coastal mountains that have that lush coastal green color with snow
capped peaks. Quite a sight, and quite a start as we began our trip
south through the Kenai Peninsula.
