Avalanche Area 

 There are many signs along the highways informing tourists of points of interest and points of danger.  This particular sign falls into the latter category, indicating that drivers shouldn’t stop because they are entering an avalanche zone.  (I stopped just outside the avalanche zone to take the picture.)
We saw the results of many avalanches in our travels; this is just one of them.  It provides a good example.  This was (past tense) a mature forest, as evidenced by the growth on either side of this small avalanche area.  These mature trees have been leveled and obliterated as though they were toothpicks.
