Athabasca Falls

Just south of Jasper is Athabasca Falls.  The Athabasca Glacier, some 70 miles to the south, forms the Athabasca River and at this point, the falls plummets about 75 feet down through this narrow gorge.  The milky blue waters of the glacial river may be seen in the water before the falls.

Like so many other areas, it is not possible to get the full perspective of the power of nature within the viewfinder of the camera.  Athabasca Falls drops and twists in a gorge just a few hundred feet downstream, but all perspective is lost when hanging over the rail and shooting down into the water.
