Jasper

After an eventful ride from Lake Louise, we have arrived in Jasper.  Canada is officially bilingual and even the welcome sign greets us in French and English.
There is at least one large herd of elk around the town of Jasper.  We saw one group at the west end of town and this group the next day at the east end.  We weren’t sure if it was the same herd or if there were two.  I couldn’t fit the whole herd into the picture.  I counted at least 17 elk grazing in this area, including three calves.
The mothers are protective of their calves, so it’s best to take these photos with a telephoto lens.
Throughout our travels, we kept coming across fields of wild flowers.  These colorful patches brighten the landscape and maybe a few pictures of these wild flowers will brighten the pages of this photo adventure.  Pictured on the left is Alberta’s Wild Rose.
