Grand Canyon Bright Angel Trail May 2001 |

We were most fortunate, for this was among the few precious days that the desert flowers were in bloom. One could immediately sense that the terrain was going to be less hospitable and the environment more desert like upon exiting Indian Garden. The streams we crossed, jumping from rock to rock, were not to be found on the upper half of Bright Angel Trail. |
| About two-thirds of the way up, I stopped and looked back. I could see the trail stretching back to Indian Garden. To the left, is the one way trail to Plateau Point, while Bright Angel Trail dips down into the crevasse to the right of Plateau Point. It seemed that only now could I begin to fully appreciate the enormity of this place and to know why it is called the Grand Canyon. | ![]() |
