Northern
California Redwoods June 2007 |
Not too far south of the Oregon border, the Pacific Coast Highway - 101, transforms itself from a coastal highway to one that meanders through the coastal forests of Redwoods. The magnitude of these trees are beyond description but they are huge! In the top right photo, taken in a grove of redwoods, you can see one of the trees that has fallen and how large it is compared to the single lane road in the foreground. |

In the photos below, I'm standing next to and inside these giant trees. In the first photo, below left, I am again standing only about 15 feet off the Pacific Coast Highway - 101. This was an incredible drive! A while later, taking a scenic by-way adjacent to the PCH, we went through another grove of redwoods and in this instance, Elaine took my photo while I was standing inside the tree. |
