Yosemite
Valley

Summer 1999

Yosemite - where to start? This was the most enjoyable of our visits to the National Parks. Glacier NP is magnificent, Rocky Mountain National Park is inspiring and the Grand Canyon completely absorbs your spirit, but in terms of the diversity - granite cliffs, river valleys, sequoias, high mountain environments - Yosemite offers marvelous diversity in a relatively small geographic area.

As we were taking the tram ride around the park, this was another of our views of Yosemite Valley, taken from an elevated point on one of the park roads.
The Valley is the most popular location in the park - we spent a lot of time there, but there is so much more to Yosemite.

All three of these photos are of Yosemite Valley, obviously taken from different points of view and at varying times of the day.

The upper photo is taken from the valley floor and in the foreground, the rocks mark the shore of the Merced River.

On one of our early morning rides, we came upon yet another view of Yosemite Valley, this one with the early morning mist hanging over the valley. This view of the valley is from several miles away, and up. This was taken on the road to the south, towards the Mariposa Grove of Redwoods.
