Colorado
May 2001
Time was passing all too quickly.  I really wish I had another day to spend in and around Durango.
At  the tourist information center, they had the map shown at the left, that suggested a 230 mile day trip thru the San Juan Mountain range of the Rocky Mountains - beginning and ending in Durango.  Oh, if I only had the time.
As it was, I had to be in Albuquerque, New Mexico, the next morning to catch my flight back to Jacksonville, Florida.
So, while I wanted to take the scenic tour described above, I instead headed south and east, first towards Taos, New Mexico, then southwest thru Santa Fe and finally to Albuquerque.  The good news is that anywhere you drive in Colorado, you are certain to find beautiful scenery.  Here are a few photos along the highway in south central Colorado, heading southeast from Durango.  When it comes to Colorado, like McArthur, I shall return.
