Interstate 70 east of Glenwood Springs is among the most scenic drives anywhere. The Eagle River parallels the highway as both snake through the mountain canyons. The scenery is so spectacular that a bicycle path rests between the Eagle River and the interstate. Driving along, you see families riding bicycles with the kids in tow. |

By necessity the speed limit is 50 miles per hour. In some places the mountains are so steep and the valley so narrow that the westbound lane is elevated and pressed up against the mountain while the same mountain sneaks under the westbound lane and butts up against the shoulder of the eastbound lane. |
