Oxford

July, 2002

View of one of the streets coming into the center of Oxford.
Approaching the university and city center in Oxford.
I was now headed south from Royal Lytham and St. Anne's towards London's Gatwick airport to pick up Jim. I had passed Manchester and Coventry when I saw a sign on the motorway: Oxford.  It was about 3PM at the time, Oxford was probably about an hour out of my way, but Jim's flight didn't arrive until 8AM the next morning, so I took the time to see this fabled town and university.
Oxford is delightful. It has the English gardens and quaint charm of an English small town. The city center is bustling with activity from shops, stores, and of course, the university.

These photos were taken at approximately 5PM on a summer's afternoon - when the only students are those attending special summer programs.
