Las
Vegas

May 2001

Toto, this isn't New York any more.  No, Toto, it's Las Vegas, where everything is done on a grandiose scale.  I have to admit to having a some fun with my digital camera, taking some night shots using the "night landscape" feature, but beyond that, this is no trick photography.  Just for the effect and entertainment value, New York has been reproduced in Las Vegas.
Want more?  How about Paris or Venice?  Interestingly, the canal and gondola are indoors - the blue sky is a mural painting.
And, speaking of murals, take a look at this ceiling.  Pictured on the right is the Bellegio hotel, one of many upscale hotels on the "strip."

We walked the strip for about two hours, and it was truly amazing to walk thru the various hotels and casinos.  Dark doors, no clocks - no sense of time once you are inside, just non-stop action.  And, it wasn't only the gambling, there were marvelous stores for browsing or serious shopping inside many of the hotels.  Quite a place!

Well, we were only there for one night and the next morning, it was time for some more traveling and meeting our rafting party in Flagstaff, Arizona.
