Whoa! Talk about a change in scenery. It is only about 110 miles distance (east) from the previous page to here, but it is a world of difference in terms of geography and climate. This is north central New Mexico, and geographically, is located in the San Juan Mountain range of the Rocky Mountains. |

My own theory is that as adults, we prefer the surroundings we grew up
with as kids. I find the desert unique, but it's too brown and arid.
Some of my Florida friends love the inter-coastal marshes. The rolling
hills of Western New York, where I grew up, don't begin to compare to the
Rocky Mountains, but I think the scenery in the Rockies is among the most
beautiful in the world.
