Austin,

Texas

It was late Sunday afternoon when we arrived in Austin. I stopped at a gas station for directions to the capitol. "Go 3 blocks to Congress Street and make a left." That's what I did, and here's what we found.
It was nearly 5PM. We parked the car and walked across the street to the capitol grounds. We thought it would be closed, but as we watched, we could see tourist types entering and exiting the main doors of the capitol building.
We walked up and entered. Indeed, it was open. Inside was a great entry hall and another few steps beyond was the rotunda. It was really quite impressive - a large and very formal building.

Most impressive was the rotunda. I learned one photographic trick while in Yosemite and I applied it here. I laid on my back on the marble floor - pointed the camera straight up, and the result is what you see below.

As always, I hope you've enjoyed this virtual travel adventure - short as this one was. If you have any questions or comments, I'd love to hear from you. Click here to send me an Email.
