Beacon Rock June 2007 |
I'll tip my hat to those brave enough to engage in true rock climbing - it's not for me. Pictured here is one portion of the trail that is carved into the volcanic rock with safety railings placed at the edge. As I was making the ascent, I stopped and asked myself if this is something I really wanted to do. I decided that if I didn't proceed, I would regret not doing so. The rest of the ascent, I looked down on the trail - about 3 feet in front of my current position and took it one step at a time, and stayed as close to the wall as I could. The descent was much easier. The next stop is the Oregon coast. Hope you stick around. |
