Cascade June 2007 |

We had crossed over the top of the Cascade Mountains at Stevens Pass and not to our surprise, the cloudy, wet weather remained trapped on the west side of the mountain range. On the east side, we enjoyed blue skies for the remainder of our Washington trip.

All the photos on this page were taken along the Cascade Loop, on Highway 2, between Stevens Pass and Leavenworth, Washington, each showing a portion of the Wenatchee River. In fact, although the middle photo looks like it is in the middle of the wilderness, all three photos were taken within 100 feet of each other. The top photo was simply one of the photo opportunities that occurred as we were driving through this beautiful countryside. As I was walking back to the car, I noticed the rapids churning - framed by the two trees, and while it looks like it's in the wilderness, it is only 30 or so feet from the top photo. |

Over the course of many of our trips, it seems that we always ended up with a photo of our rental car in one of the photos - so much so that it's an unofficial tradition to include the rental car, so here it is. This trip, it was a Toyota Corolla and since we would end up driving over 1,300 miles, the 38 miles per gallon we averaged, including much of it through the mountains, was quite welcome. |
