Deception Falls

There are multiple sources for how Deception Falls got its name. First is that it is deceptive because the falls are so powerful yet the water can be picked up and will run softly through your fingers. Another is that it is difficult to find - as we experienced. We were driving along and nestled back in off the highway was this picturesque waterfall. Next, after we turned around and parked, we found a beautiful trail around the falls and through the moss covered woods of the Cascades.

While it looks remote, a short bridge and walkway leads to a perfect photo spot (left). The photo to the right, is taken from a small footbridge as the waters from Deception Falls race downstream.

From the parking lot, a short 10 - 15 minute walking trail will lead you through some of t he most beautiful and pristine sights of nature, including benches where you can take time to contemplate and take it all in.
