Bloody Omaha

Jim at Bloody Omaha - Omaha Beach, Normandy, France

Another few miles east on the Normandy coast and we were at Omaha Beach.  Omaha was the costliest beach on D-Day, June 6, 1944, and became known as Bloody Omaha.  Here, Jim stands on Omaha Beach.  Just to the right of this photo, a monument stands on the beach.  On that monument, the inscription reads, "The Allied Forces, landing on this shore which they call Omaha Beach, liberated Europe - June 6, 1944."  As I said before, the French have remembered.
